Photography Expedition – North Sumatra

Join wildlife and travel photographer Peter Fogarty and RAW Conservation on a 10-day immersive photography adventure through the jungles of North Sumatra.

Overview

Explore the heart of the rainforest on a purpose-driven photography expedition led by Peter Fogarty.
In collaboration with RAW Conservation, this small-group trip offers a rare opportunity to connect with nature, engage with in-field conservation efforts, and refine your photographic craft in truly wild terrain.

Why Go

  • Document one of the world’s most biodiverse rainforests — home to endangered orangutans and other unique wildlife.
  • Work alongside experienced guides and contribute directly to wildlife conservation through RAW Conservation’s field programs.
  • Receive intensive photographic tuition: master composition, light, long exposures, and wildlife techniques under Peter’s guidance.
  • Enjoy a small-group format (maximum 8 participants) for personalised attention, flexibility, and memorable experiences.

Trip Highlights

  • Visit the newly established Orangutan Haven and witness pioneering efforts to reduce human–wildlife conflict.
  • Capture dawn and dusk in prime rainforest locations — when the light is magical and wildlife most active.
  • Immerse yourself in local culture: engage with communities, explore conservation ethics, and experience Sumatra’s rich traditions.
  • Photograph breathtaking subjects: lush rainforest, orangutans, tropical flora, dramatic skies, and reflective river light.
